extract and place dual_recovery.img, unsecure_boot.img, boot.img, utscript, 7033_system.tgz on your sdcard.insert the sdcard into your coby 7033 tablet turn the tablet off by using a paper clip or some other small device to insert in hole on back of tablet press and release for 3 seconds.

now press and hold volume up + power until you see Vampirefo top left of tablet, at this point lay tablet...

Starting a new thread coz i haven't seen a topic here which deals with the USB bluetooth for CK MID9742...
I've managed to make the USB BT dongle (generic CSR type) work on my CK MID9742 without any connection issues using vampirefo's Mobiz V2 9742 ROM and some driver tweaks....
my problem is, the touch screen and screen rotate don't work...tried patching it with 9742 boot.img, then it will work, but wiping the BT drivers and stopping the USb BT to work...
tried tweaking the drivers again,...

I just got my 8042 today,all help here, so far is only for windows users, "LiveSuite", if you are happy with livesuite you may use it, however it has two major set backs, one it's only for windows users, second if your usb malfunctions you are out of luck.
I have read through most of the 8042 threads, and have taken from them what I needed, "temp root", from that we can do almost anything.

What I will be covering in this thread is how to root, install recovery, install a modified boot.img,...

I just flashed my MID9742 with @steev's Custom ROM and everything went smoothly and seems to work fine EXCEPT for the camera.

What I am trying to locate is a copy of the stock ROM LiveSuit image so that I can re-flash back to stock. I found the following mention in the original thread, but the link has been removed:

I have a 8042 and after Googling i was visited this page Yesterday

(Development Index and Root Utility) and followed all instructions by Traveller.
I have done all things made backups from both Dump Utility & CWM Recovery.

my tablet does not enter recovery mode

1 year ago, restore my tablet but now stays in the logo "Coby".

attempt to restore it but does not enter recovery mode. With the combination of + power.

earlier she had entered several times but no longer want to enter.

2 hours after it is heated and the logo "Coby" passes "Android"

I recently purchased a Coby 7033 tablet (black friday deal that only cost me $15), which was running ICS 4.0.3. After reading and trying several different sites, I finally found this site here and managed to get the device rooted (using the root method for a 7035, only difference between the model is the touchscreen, 7033 is resistive, 7035 being capacitive). Firmware dump is most important to me on this one. I realize it's quite a challenge to root, get a dump, and have CWM up and running on this particular model, as well as the 7035. In fact, I don't know as it's been done yet on the 7033.(warm smilz) At the very least, it would be nice to be able to contribute a decent firmware dump for the repository.(Hopefully that may help some others that run into trouble, and need a forgotten/misplaced recovery option.)

I know this ViMicro A8 Cortex...

This is a port of Shaun2029's CM10 found here [rom] CyanogenMod 10 Tweaks - SlateDroid.com

This is based on Testing version, cm10_a10_20130328.zip.

The files and modules come from my 9740. You need to have cwm recovery installed and have a system larger that 300MB.

You need to have a micro sdcard, the internal sdcard doesn't work correctly, so I edited vold.fstab to make micro sdcard to be used as internal sdcard....

Rooting Coby Kyros 1042 Drivers Problems

Hello everyone, I have a Coby Kyris MID1042 and I'm trying to root but I have Windows 8.1 and when I do the steps to install the drivers for Windows 7 the "root_restore.bat" does not recognizes my tablet, pc yes but with a Error Code 10 in drivers manager .... Can anyone with a 1042 coby tablet help me ?

I decided to start my own thread to let you know the progress that I am making with my new tablet.

This is what I call a fake recovery. works just like a regular CWM recovery except needs to be flashed each time one wants to use it.

This way I don't have to make a recovery for each model, one recovery should cover all Coby telechips tablets..

Place on micro sdcard boot into recovery and flash fake_7036_recovery.zip.

Coby Kyros MID-7034-4 Root/GAPPS Script

As there is no real guide just for this device to root it and install GAPPS i decided to make one after successfully doing it on my tablet. I would like to thank vampirefo for the info on doing adb gapps install that was in another post which helped my get mine working and thanks for the rooting script by Bin4ry as its the only one i got to work on the tablet.

Ive modified and uploaded Bin4ry's rooting script to install GAPPS and included all the files that should be needed to do this....
